Why I Chose RaiderComm

By: Ashley Crisp

It’s your last semester of college. You scroll through your DegreeWorks and see every box checked. For the first time since you started college, you don’t have any set classes left to take. This gives you endless possibilities of classes to fill your extra hours. You begin to question what you lack from your current college curriculum that you can squeeze into that last semester to make it count.

For me, that was a hands-on experience. Working with real-life clients, managing projects and understanding PR professionals' tasks were skills I had hoped to gain before starting my career. In the past semesters, I learned a lot about the industry. Still, I needed more work to show for it and hands-on experience. This led me to RaiderComm.

This class was exactly what I had been looking for. After hearing from professors and peers about the benefits of RaiderComm, it seemed like a no-brainer. RaiderComm is set up like a real-life PR agency and allows students to understand how one functions. I also knew I needed more real-world experience on my resume and portfolio to show future employers. RaiderComm has provided me with experiential learning opportunities that will set me apart from other candidates. This is why I chose to enroll in this course for my final semester.

Also, as a senior, the question of what you will do for the rest of your life can be scary. By being a part of RaiderComm, I can better understand what I excel at, need to work on and am passionate about before that next step. I am excited to begin this journey and build my professional skill set before graduation.
