When I first joined RaiderComm, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew it was a student-run public relations agency, but I didn’t fully grasp how much it would push me to grow – both professionally and personally.

Now, in my second semester with the agency, I can confidently say that the hands-on experience and mentorship have helped shape me into a more confident communicator.

Learning how to balance both leadership and teamwork has been a major learning curve. As an account manager for CreateAthon and an account coordinator on the RaiderComm internal team, I’ve had to refine my ability to juggle responsibilities and support my team while keeping projects on track.

Learning about project management in a classroom is one thing, but implementing strategies in real time with real clients is entirely different. Through trial and error, I’ve gained a better understanding of core leadership traits—clear communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.

RaiderComm has also provided exposure to real-world challenges. From coordinating with clients to crafting compelling messaging strategies, every task feels like a steppingstone toward my future career. One of the most rewarding experiences has been working on the CreateAthon and grand opening events. Seeing all the moving parts come together reinforced how important collaboration and attention to detail are in the PR world.

Beyond professional development, RaiderComm has given me a sense of community.

The agency fosters an environment where students support each other, share knowledge, and celebrate wins together. It’s reassuring to be surrounded by people who are just as passionate about public relations as I am.

Whether it’s bouncing ideas off teammates or learning from faculty advisers, the encouragement and camaraderie make every challenge worthwhile.

Looking ahead, I know the skills I’ve developed in RaiderComm will serve me well. From refining my writing and strategic planning abilities to gaining confidence in my leadership style, this experience has been instrumental in shaping my professional identity.

For anyone considering joining RaiderComm or looking for real-world PR experience, I can’t recommend it enough. The lessons you’ll learn and the connections you’ll build are invaluable.
