Why I Chose RaiderComm

By: Victoria Bacon

I didn’t ever consider joining RaiderComm until I participated in the CreateAthon this past April. I went out on a limb and out of my comfort zone being with people I hadn’t met for 24 hours. In those 24 hours, I knew I needed to join RaiderComm. The participants who were in RaiderComm seemed so experienced, and I needed that. At the end of my 24 hours, I left having the best time with fun people who had a common goal in mind (I also left needing tons of sleep).

Without the experiences RaiderComm has already given me, I wouldn’t know how to talk or work with clients. I can go into a meeting with clients with more confidence. Before CreateAthon, I had no idea how to create a campaign or anything. I feel a step ahead in my capstone public relations campaigns class since I’ve helped plan one!

RaiderComm is such a unique experience. The ability to gain real agency experience isn’t something every student will get to have. Not only is RaiderComm good for my school career but also my professional career. I can put my RaiderComm experience on my resume and say I’ve worked with two real-life clients.

I joined RaiderComm for hands-on experience to help with my future. I’m getting the ability to work with classmates as colleagues instead of typical group work in a regular class. What public relations major at Texas Tech wouldn’t want to experience this?

I come into RaiderComm wanting to gain professional experience. It’s a perfect class to utilize everything I’ve learned and practice the career I dream of. I can’t wait to see what this semester holds for me!
