What Led Me to RaiderComm?

By: Sara Mousavi

Throughout my years of college, I have always harbored the gnawing feeling of not amounting to anything post-graduation. Although I know that dreadful feeling is just stemming from my anxiety, I can’t help but crave hands-on experience to feel confident in my professional skills. This is where RaiderComm comes in! As a senior studying public relations and strategic communication management, getting agency experience before I graduate is an incredible opportunity. Not only will it help me stand out to future employers, but it will help me feel self-assured going forward into the job market.

Even though I am a PRSC student, I am unsure if I actually want to go into the public relations field. I am hoping to either work in the fashion and interior design world or become a digital nomad and work fully online or on social media. Having a communications degree is a versatile gateway that can lead to almost any field, which is why I opted for it. No matter what career I pursue, my experience in RaiderComm will benefit me by preparing me for actual client interaction and work. I am looking forward to working with my account teams to develop public awareness strategies for our selected clients and putting those strategies into motion throughout the semester.

I know that my semester in RaiderComm will give me a newfound confidence that I view as imperative this close to graduation. I cannot wait for my post-graduation anxiety to dissipate as my real-world experience continues to grow through our student-run agency here at Texas Tech!
