What Does PR Mean to You?

By: Elene  Khajishvili

Public relations, to me, is not just a field of study or a career path; it's a passion, a way for meaningful communication and a catalyst for positive change. My decision to major in public relations stems from a genuine love for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Growing up in a multicultural environment has made me more aware of how communication works in different situations. It's also taught me to really value and respect other people's viewpoints.

PR is about advocacy and empowerment. Through my studies at Texas Tech's College of Media & Communication, I've discovered the big impact of PR. It's about using the power of communication to elevate voices, advocate for causes and drive positive social impact.

The skills I've acquired through my PR education are flexible and adaptable, equipping me to thrive in a variety of professional settings. Whether it's through law school, pursuing a PhD in PR or participating in a congressional internship, I see PR as a guiding force that will shape my future endeavors.

PR classes at Tech have been crucial in shaping my understanding of the field. It's not just about theory; it's about practical skills that are essential for success in the world of PR. From writing captivating narratives to navigating conflicts, the lessons from the courses have been invaluable in preparing me for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

In conclusion, PR is more than just a major or a career choice. It's about using the power of communication to build networks, gain understanding and create a positive change in the world. And for me, that's what makes it truly meaningful and fulfilling.
