During my first semester at Texas Tech, I was given a firsthand introduction to our CoMC program’s agencies through a tour held by the department. After I met the RaiderComm team, I knew this opportunity would fit me.
Having a part-time position is new for me. Believe or not, freelance work was the only type of experience I have had as far as previous work goes. This would also be my first time being in a setting specific to public relations; I haven’t taken any PR-related classes and such before, either. I am interested to see what working with businesses as clients is like; I had only worked with individuals as clients in the past. I am looking forward to having a more stable position and working with local businesses in Lubbock.
I felt that joining RaiderComm would be a good decision. After meeting the current team- as well as hearing and reading the experiences of students who previously worked here- my confidence was set. Learning how the agency helped students build their skills in communication fields and find more internships or job opportunities, I felt reassured that I had made the right choice. The agency works well with both my Creative Media Industries major and my commute. I love the convenience of it being located on campus.
I aim to gain both professional and field-related experience to have for my career after graduation. I also want to grab the chance to develop skills I haven’t used yet in a professional environment. It will also be a great help for growing my portfolios. I am happy to officially be a part of the team. I am excited to see what working at this agency will bring and what I can do for others through RaiderComm.
