Killing It and Not Afraid to Say

By: Kristin Harper

Success. Success is something to be celebrated, not something to be ashamed of. Being in college can be really difficult sometimes. There can be deadline after deadline or project after project, and it can feel like a never-ending cycle of work. College students do a lot of work in a short amount of time, and it’s not easy.

As a full-time student who is finishing up her degree, I have had a fair share of work throughout college that has been overwhelming. But what if I told you it is all worth it when you get an A on a big presentation or get picked for an amazing internship opportunity? Working hard and kicking butt is something that shouldn’t be hidden. You don’t have to feel bad because you did so great on an assignment and your friend didn’t.

Until my sophomore year of college, I didn’t want to share what I was achieving with people because I felt like I was bragging. That was until I got my very first 4.0 in college all while I was taking 18 credits, which was A LOT of work. I couldn’t wait to share with my parents, friends, roommates and some of my school friends. It was a big deal. From then on I realized I should be proud to share that I am indeed killing it.

We put way too much time into what we do and what we learn that we shouldn’t be afraid to let others know we are killing it and accomplishing awesome things! We should be so proud of ourselves for all our hard work and time put into our success and potential. People who support you will celebrate with you too! It’s ok to share your accomplishments, and let everyone know that you are KILLING IT!

Every win should be celebrated, and we shouldn’t be afraid to say when we are killing it!
