When I was first accepted into Texas Tech Unviersity, I was excited to go to college, even if it meant I would be living at home. Nothing had really changed, other than the fact that I was attending a school with over 40,000 students and over half of them knew what they wanted to do with their lives. At the time, I was unsure of what I wanted to major in and found myself in the eXplore program. The eXplore program is an advisory program that helps Red Raiders explore which major is the best fit for them. I was undecided for over a year, and I became slightly paranoid about not having any interest in what I wanted to do with my life, but hearing about RaiderComm gave me hope for my future.
I decided to pursue my studies in public relations because, as a service industry worker, I really like connecting with people on a personal level. Being able to talk with people from different backgrounds has always intrigued me because I want to know more about them. Joining RaiderComm has taught me how to communicate strategically, given me a better insight into how organizations communicate, and has helped me find a potential career in the communication industry. I still have another year and a half before I graduate into the “real world” and decide what I want to do with my life. A communication degree is a widely diverse degree that can open the door for many things; I just hope that I can find my thing.
