Being in RaiderComm in the spring, really opened my eyes to what this industry and career path can form into. Really diving into agency work and seeing all that I am capable of, concerning relations and time management, bolstered my confidence more than any other class came close to. I feel like this semester, considering I will be responsible for a team and not just the work that is delegated to me, will just be an even more in depth version of that. I believe service learning courses are so vital to the training of undergraduates and offer experiences and opportunities that can grow an individual in various ways. I grew a lot of soft skills in my time at RaiderComm, and expect to grow even more in this upcoming semester. One that I have fallen short in throughout my entire career here at Texas Tech, is stress management. I am an extremely organized person; I just haven’t quite handled that element yet. Concerning client relations, I am not quite sure what to expect. Last semester in RaiderComm, both of my clients were individuals in the College of Media & Communication. Therefore, I had almost pretty instant access to them; however, I wasn’t the immediate contact to either. Being an account manager, you are expected to bridge the gap between your team and your client. I hope I can get my team to the relationship required in order to make this experience fulfilling for them, as well as our client. CreateAthon is an incredible opportunity for students to be a part of, especially on the planning side. I hope the members on my team are engaged in this process and excited about what this semester has the potential of turning into!
