There are so many decisions to make as a freshman in high school, those decisions being only a fraction of the choices we make throughout our lives. However, at 18 years old, we are asked to decide what we want to do for the rest of our lives.

As a senior in college, I am on a completely different track from where I started at Texas Tech as a freshman. I thought I wanted to become a veterinarian, then I decided to try out nursing. I hated both. Here I am now, three years later, graduating with a degree in public relations.

I thought my first two choices were necessary because there was security in those jobs. I knew exactly what the jobs were and where I could work. In the back of my mind, however, there was something telling me that these were not what I wanted to do. I was scared to change my mind again because I felt that I had already wasted so much of my time and money. However, on a random Tuesday, I decided to trust my gut and change my major to PRSC because it felt right.

This was the best decision I had ever made during my time in college.

I still don’t know exactly what I want to do with my degree, which is one of the things that scared me the most as a freshman, but that’s okay. I have embraced my love for writing and creating, finally accepting that I can find a job doing something I truly enjoy. I was ecstatic when I heard about RaiderComm because it provides an immersive work experience for students to gain experience!

I love RaiderComm, I love MCoM, and I love PRSC. I am so excited to see where this degree takes me. Take it from me, an indecisive senior who has changed her major three times– trust your gut, it will be worth it in the end!
