With award-winning academics and athletics, students receive a well-rounded collegiate experience. Enjoy world-class facilities at the University Recreation Center such as the outdoor lazy river, challenging indoor rock wall or always lively basketball courts. TTU Athletics provides students with engaging sporting events year-round. Students fill the Jones AT&T Stadium for fall football and the United Supermarkets Arena during spring basketball season. Alongside athletics, TTU boasts award-winning faculty and staff who prepare students for every avenue of post-graduation life.

As a constantly expanding city, Lubbock’s food industry has exploded in the last decade. With restaurants frequently popping up across town, there is always something new to try. Quickly gaining popularity as a city favorite, Dirk’s Chicken, is a healthconscious restaurant serving elevated southern food and quality cocktails. Directly across from Texas Tech is Spanky’s, a Hub City staple. Be sure to order their famous fried cheese sticks for a true Lubbock experience. With drink specials every day and an expansive menu, Caprock Cafe makes the perfect spot to enjoy game day with friends or family throughout the year.

3. Outdoor Adventures

Known for its expansive plains and unique scenery, West Texas is full of opportunities for nature lovers. With over 90 parks across town and canyons to the north, Lubbock’s terrain is an adventure-seekers playground. One of Lubbock’s best trails for hiking, walking, road biking and running, Buffalo Springs Lake Loop, is 5.7 miles of fun. Visit Mackenzie Park to encounter Lubbock’s favorite mammals at Prairie Dog Town. A must-see is the second largest canyon in the country, Palo Duro Canyon. Located roughly 115 miles northeast of Lubbock, Palo Duro’s vast scenery and exciting hikes make it the perfect day trip. Whether you’re into walking paths or various levels of hiking, Lubbock and its surrounding areas have a nature venture for you.
