Podcasts seem to be growing in popularity as the millennial public becomes integrated into the professional world. Podcasts, for those who haven’t discovered them yet, are similar to a radio talk show. There’s usually a host or two and sometimes involves guests. They chat about what’s trending at the moment among other topics on their brain. Podcasts are found online through various streaming sites; some podcasts even have coordinating videos for those who need the visual aspect of a talk show.
Podcasts can be a great way to learn more about PR trends while on the go. There are a variety of public relations podcasts, and with them being so easily accessible you can listen to new trends while working out or driving to a job/internship. The analysis behind certain trends can broaden the mind of a collegiate to be more perceptive about the world around them. Sometimes discussion is the best way to fully understand certain topics, which can allow you to develop your own opinion or be able to apply the knowledge into your current life. Podcasts also offer a personal connection rather than an online article. It allows you to be more involved and engaged about the topic, so it could help you increase your digital brand.
Podcasts have even become big for purely entertainment purposes. For example, many YouTubers (celebrities of YouTube) also create podcasts and chat with other YouTubers. The hosts often have sponsors who provide funding for production of the podcasts in return for its products being endorsed on the podcasts. Will companies start to utilize podcasts more in order to promote its brand? With the digital era increasing in innovations each day, only time will tell if podcasts will replace today’s radio talk shows.
